Powerful, compact, and space efficient
The 600 series is an excellent mid-size loader with a lift capacity of up to 1100 kg, and a lift height of 2.8 metres. Avant 635 is one of the most popular models in New Zealand with its high-flow auxiliary hydraulics making it compatible with virtually all attachments. At the same time, it is very compact, allowing access to even the most confined spaces. The 640 is available when a faster travel speed is required.
In addition to the standard ROPS/FOPS cab, the optional GT cab is a modern air-conditioned, vibration-insulated comfort zone for the driver. A low noise level combined with excellent visibility and ergonomics guarantees a comfortable full day’s work in the cab. The cab can be equipped following the customer's needs with A/C, Bluetooth radio or an air suspension seat etc.

Stable and easy to use
This series is carefully articulated to make your life easier. With the drivers seat in the front chassis, these machines have a lower centre of gravity and an advanced 4x4 system, increasing stability while you work. To prevent the attachments swinging sideways, we’ve also incorporated a rigid articulation joint.
Avant’s unique drive system minimises impact on delicate surfaces such as turf, preserving their condition. At the same time, it provides maximum traction when needed, ensuring optimal performance.
One machine for every task
With hundreds of specialised attachments, an Avant loader is one of the most versatile machines on the market. Our engineers have developed a tool for every job, with the perfect balance of dimensions and auxiliary hydraulics. No matter your industry, the 600 series delivers top efficiency, convenience, and precision, maximising ROI.
Between jobs, the hydraulic multi-connector system allows easy, one-handed attachment changes, even with the engine running or in cold conditions, thanks to its leak-free mechanism.
Designed for maximum productivity, the 600 series offers extensive customisation options, including four cab configurations, additional task lights, and the Opticontrol™ system, making it adaptable for year-round use.
Telescopic boom
Despite its compact size, the 600 series boasts exceptional reach and lift capacity, making it stand out in its class. The telescopic boom plays a key role in this capability, allowing the loader to lift up to 2.8 metres high. This feature provides the flexibility to handle a wide range of tasks while maintaining a compact form, ideal for tight spaces or challenging environments. When the boom is not in use, it conveniently retracts, further enhancing manoeuvrability.
In addition to its impressive height, the 600 series offers superior reach, enabling you to load a trailer from one side without repositioning the machine. This not only increases productivity but also ensures excellent visibility from the cab, allowing the operator to work with precision.
4X4 drive
All Avant loaders are equipped with four-wheel drive so you can operate safely in any conditions. Powered by a hydrostatic drive system and hydraulic drive motors on each wheel, these machines are highly efficient and dependable.
The drive circuit also features valves, increasing your traction control. These valves function like a hydraulic 4x4 diff lock, equalising the oil flow between each motor and improving traction on slippery or uneven surfaces. To avoid damaging any soft terrain and reduce tyre wear on harder surfaces, the left and right wheels can also roll at different speeds.
FAQS
How does Avant compare to a skid steer?
Avant loaders and skid steer loaders are both compact loaders, but they have several differences, including:
- Size: Avant loaders are generally narrower and lighter than skid steer loaders.
- Manoeuvrability: Avant loaders have articulated steering, which is more responsive and causes much less damage to soft surfaces. Skid steers skid, which can tear up soft surfaces. If you need to turn on the spot, a skid steer will be better as it can pivot on a dime. Because an Avant is articulated it has a larger turning circle, but its unique drive system causes minimal damage to the ground surface.
- Operating costs: Avant loaders have lower fuel consumption and tyre wear than skid steers.
- Visibility: Avant loaders have 360 degree operator visibility and side entry for easier access to the cab.
- Lifting height: Avant loaders have a telescopic boom that provides increased lifting height and reach compared to a skid steer.
- Ground damage: Avant loaders cause minimal ground damage and don't require ground protection mats.

How does Avant compare to a tractor?
Avant loaders are a versatile alternative to compact tractors, with several advantages over tractors, including:
- Manoeuvrability: Avant loaders are more nimble and can easily navigate tight spaces. They articulate in the middle, making them easier to manoeuvre than tractors.
- Attachments: Avant loaders have a variety of attachments that are easy to attach and remove. There are over 150 different attachments to choose from.
- Ease of operation: Avant loaders have one pedal for forwards and one pedal for backwards, making them easy to operate.
- Compactness: Avant loaders are compact and narrow, so they can fit through tight spaces. They can be legally transported on a standard plant trailer.
- Telescopic boom: Avant loaders have a telescopic boom that allows for a great outreach and lift capacity. The boom can be retracted to lift heavier loads, or extended to reach and lift higher.
- Cost: An Avant loader will cost more than a compact tractor. However, the Avant is more versatile which means they are better value for money.
How does Avant compare to a standard yard loader?
- Attachments: Avant loaders have a variety of attachments that are easy to attach and remove. There are over 150 different attachments to choose from.
- Lifting height: Avant loaders have a telescopic boom that provides increased lifting height and reach compared to a yard loader.
- Ground damage: Avant loaders have a unique 4x4 drive system which causes minimal ground damage compared to a traditional loader, while still offering better traction and stability.
- Stability: Avant loaders have a rigid pivot point which means there is less likelihood of rollover. This is why you will commonly see beekeepers and arborists using Avant loaders as they are very stable on slopes.
- Versatility: Avant loaders will complete the basic functions of a "yard loader", but also have many alternative uses as a result of the attachment range, quick connect hydraulic system, and telescopic boom.

Are Avant loaders stable?
Yes, Avant loaders are stable because:
- Low centre of gravity: The operator sits in the front chassis, which lowers the centre of gravity and makes the loader stable.
- Rigid articulation joint: The joint doesn't swing sideways, which increases stability.
- 4x4 system: The advanced 4x4 system provides traction.
- Articulation doesn't oscillate: When articulating on a slope, the front and rear portions remain at the same angle.
How long has Avant been in NZ?
Avant loaders have been in New Zealand since 2004, when Avant Equipment NZ (formerly Glenbrook Machinery) became the importer and distributor for the brand.
Avant Tecno is a market leader in articulated mini loaders, and has been manufacturing loaders since 1991. Their loaders are used in many industries in New Zealand, including beekeeping, landscaping, and arboriculture.
Avant Equipment NZ has warehouses in Auckland and Christchurch, and offers a nationwide rental fleet, spare parts, and service agents.
How do I choose the right Avant model?
This depends on the application. In demanding commercial applications, we recommend models 635, 745, 750 and 850. These all have high flow hydraulics and will run virtually all attachments. For hobby farms, the smaller 200, 400 and 500 series are a good choice.
